The Oil-Bath System features back-to-back tapered roller bearings operating in 90W gear oil and sealed with Duo-ConeT seals. The gang shaft is slipped through the bore of the interior axle (yellow). Bearings and seals are mounted on the interior axle (yellow) and neither the bearings nor seals are in direct contact with the gang shaft.
Duo-Cone Seals
Hardened, special alloy metal rings are precisely lapped to seal perfectly. Synthetic rubber o-rings position the metal sealing rings, exerting uniform pressure for the life of the seal. Positive sealing contact is maintained regardless of shaft deflection, end play or vibration. The metal faces constantly develop a new sealing surface. As wear occurs, the contact band moves inward (see diagram).
TorsionBell Spool
The TorsionBell Spool used on all Models designated as 225 or 275, is a unique KELLO-BILT design, fabricated from 3/8" steel plate cold formed into bells of different diameters, of which one of each is welded to either end of a heavy schedule pipe. The complete piece is then machined to be true and concave at one end and convex at the other.
Gang Shaft & End Washers
Shaft material used by KELLO-BILT is of high carbon alloy steel to eliminate gang stretch and the resulting loose gangs and premature bearing and shaft failure of discs using more common materials of lesser quality. Gang shafts are threaded at both ends. Each end has a milled flat side that matches a flat surface through the bore of the end washer. This prevents the end washer from turning on the gang shaft. The axle nut is tightened and then locked in position with a block bolted to the endwasher and against one face of the nut.
Bearing Standards & Wear Plates
Constructed of minimum 3/8" thick rectangular steel tubing and sloped sideways for maximum trash clearance, the bearing standard is welded to the gang bar and reinforced with heavy strap gussets. The welded design gives maximum support to the bearing and eliminates bearing misalignment and damage that occurs when straight bolts or U-bolts used for bolt-on hangers stretch or loosen. Standard wear plates on all KELLO-BILT bearings allow maximum blade usage without undue wear on the bearing housing.
Gang Bar
A Kello-Bilt gang bar is fabricated as a single weldment.
The bearing standards are welded to the main beam and reinforced with heavy strap gussets. There are no U-bolts to stretch and loosen - with the inevitable result of loose disc assemblies and bearing failures. The scraper bars are welded to the main beam, thereby providing solid support for heavy aggressive moldboard scrapers and contributing to the overall rigidity of the weldment.
